Cultural information for:
Soil media: 50% silica sand, 30% sphagnum peat, 20% acidic rotten wood chips (alternate to 50% acidic rotted wood chips, 50% sphagnum peat). Use plastic pots only.
Light conditions: light shade to high open shade.
Moisture requirements: water with distilled or rain water to which has been added 2 ounces of cider vinegar per gallon of water. Keep soil damp at all times. Must be well drained.
Fertilizing: none recommended.
Planting: plant with growth bud just below the surface. Roots should spread out flat with the tips slightly downward.
Hardiness: hardy in beds. Mulching is recommended. In pot, four months of artificial cooling is recommended, though three may be sufficient. Artificial cooling can be readily achieved by placing pot in plastic bag and placed in the crisper of the refrigerator for the required time.
