Cultural information for:
Soil media: three parts sand, two parts milled sphagnum moss, one part sphagnum peat, 1/3 part charcoal chips. Mulch with shredded leaves or partially rotted pine needles.
Light conditions: bright open shade.
Moisture requirements: keep soil moist at all times, but not soaking. Must be well drained.
Fertilizing: general all-purpose fertilizer at 10-25% strength recommended for pot plants. Apply every three or four weeks up to mid-July. Flush media with water before next application.
Planting: plant the rhizome with the roots spread out, one and a half to two inches below surface of soil media.
Hardiness: very hardy. Requires lengthy cold dormancy period. Not recommended for areas south of Iowa.
